Review: The Block Party by Jamie Day.

This social drama centers around a wealthy neighborhood that is rocked by a murder at a Memorial Day party that is held on Alton Road each year. The story centers around Alex and Lettie, a mother and daughter who get caught up in the affairs of friends and family. The story starts a year before the murder and is told through the alternating viewpoints of both women. Alex is struggling with issues with her marrige and alcohol, as well as getting involved with neighbors lives. Lettie is a Senior in high school who tries to get revenge on a former friend for hurting her cousin, but that opens a whole lot of problems for her. As mysteries pile up about the people on Alton Road, both Alex and Lettie confront truths about themselves and thier place in the unfolding story. I liked the alternating perspectives of the narrative and the surprising things that were revealed about some characters. The plot I thought dragged just a little bit at the beginning, but I liked the ending. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 content: some language , mentions of rape: not explicit some violence
